Question 712504: it takes 29 minutes to drive from school to work, a distance of 12 miles. At what average rate of speed does the student drive?
Answer by algebrahouse.com(1659) (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
12 ÷ 29 minutes
= 12 ÷ 29/60 {changed minutes to fraction of an hour}
= 12 x 60/29 {when dividing fractions, multiply by the reciprocal}
= 720/29 {multiplied}
= 24.8 {divided}
approximately 24.8 mph
