Question 712056: One morning, Justin drove 3 hours before stopping to eat lunch at Pizza Hut. After lunch, he increased his speed by 10 mph. If he completed a 270-mile trip in 6 hours of driving time, how fast did he drive in the morning?
Answer by Menjax(62) (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
Speed = distance/Time
average speed = 270/6
average speed = 45
x = speed from point a to point b
y = speed from pont b to point c
x +10 = y
x + y = 45
x + x + 10 = 45
2x = 35
x = 17.5mph
