Question 704267: A train passes through a 750 m long tunnel at 50km/h. The back of the train exits the tunnel 1.5 min after the front of the train enters it. What is the length of the train, in meters?
Thank you in advance!
Answer by mananth(16946) (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
length of train x m
length of tunnel = 750m
total distance traveled to exit from tunnel = (x+750)
speed = 50 km/h
time taken = 1.5 m
50 km/h = 833.333333 meters / minute
speed = distance / time
833.33 = (x+750)/1.5
833.33*1.5 = x+750
(833.33*1.5)-750 = x
499.99
= 500 m
