Distance equals rate times time. If represents the amount of time she walked, then represents the amount of time she rode. And kilometers is the distance she rode in the car and is the distance she walked. Presuming no one moved her home while she was gone, these distances have to be the same.

**
let x=distance lisa walked and car traveled
travel time=distance/speed
1 hour and 30 min=3/2 hr
..
x/48+x/6=3/2
LCD:48
x+8x=72
9x=72
x=8
distance lisa walked=8 km
