Question 689769: "A car leaves Berlin on the autobahn at 60 mph. How long will it take a second car traveling at 90 mph to catch the first car if it leaves 2 hours later?"
This doesn't seem like a distance problem -- it's more time-related, but I wasn't sure what category to put it in. I hope this isn't a problem.
Anyway, here's what I tried:
60(x) = 90(120 + x)
60x = 10,800 + 90x
-30x = 10,800
..and that's where I stopped! I got a little put off by the negative sign. This can't be right, can it? Thanks in advance!

The 60 mph car has a two hour head start, so when the 90 mph car starts, the first car has traveled 60 mph X 2 hr = 120 miles. The second car is going 30 mph faster. How long does it take a vehicle going 30 mph to travel 120 miles?
