Answer by checkley79(3341) (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
D=RT
60=R*3
3R=60
R=60/3
R=20 MPH. GOING DOWNSTREAM
60=R*5
5R=60
R=60/5
R=12 MPH. GOING UPSTREAM.
(20-12)/2=8/2=4 MPH. IS THE CURRENTS SPEED.
20-4=16 MPH IS THE BOATS SPEED
12+4=16 DITTO.
