This is asking you to divide 12 and 1/2 into two equal parts
First divide 12 in half. That equals 6
Now divide 1/2 in half. That equals 1/4
Put them together and you have 6 and 1/4

Convert the mixed number to an improper fraction
12 is 2*12=24+1=25, so
