Answer by stanbon(75887) (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
Jennifer leaves her house going 25 mph. Her mom leaves 20 minutes later, going 90 mph. When will Mom catch up with Jennifer?
-----
Jennifer DATA:
rate = 25 mph ; time = x hrs ; distance = 25x miles
-----
Mom DATA:
rate = 90 mph ; time = (x-(1/3)) hrs ; distance = 90x-30 miles
-------
Equation:
distance = distance
25x = 90x-30
65x = 30
x = 6/13 hrs = (6/13)*60 = 27.69 = 27 min 42 seconds
