Question 676896: Could you please help me solve this problem?
A sharpshooter intends to hit a target at a distance of 1000 yards with a gun that has a muzzle velocity of 1200 feet per second. Neglecting air resistance, determine the gin's minimum angle of elevation "x" if the range "r" is given by r=1/32V0^2sin2x.
Thank you!

:
**sin(2x) = r
:
Vo=1200, convert 1000 yds to 3000 ft
**sin(2x) = 3000
:
*1440000*sin(2x) = 3000
:
45000*sin(2x) = 3000
:
sin(2x) =
:
sin(2x) = .0667
:
Find the arc-sine using .0667
2x = 3.823
x = 3.823/2
x = 1.91 degrees
