Answer by stanbon(75887) (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
Two airplanes fly toward each other from points 900 miles apart, at the rates, per hour, of 300 mph and 250 mph. When will they meet if they start at the same instant?
---------
Time is the same for both.
Rate*Time = Distance
-----
Equation:
distance + distance = 900 miles
300t + 250t = 900
550t = 900
t = 900/550 hrs
t = 1.64 hrs = 1hr 38 min 11 seconds
