a driver travels 30 miles to the gym at a constant speed and travels the same distance home at a constant speed. his speed on the return trip was sixteen miles per hour faster, and the total time for both trips was two hours. find his speed on the way to the gym.

Here is the equation you want
let s = his speed on the way to the gym
then
(s+16) = his speed returning
:
Write a time equation time = dist/speed
:
Time there + time back = 2 hrs
+ = 2
multiply by s(s+16) to clear the denominators, you will get a quadratic equation to solve
