Question 639378: Two trains left a station at the same time. One traveled north at a certain speed and the other traveled south twice the speed. After 4 hours, the trains were 600 miles apart. How fast was each train traveling?
Answer by mananth(16946) (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
Train I speed =x mph
Train II speed = 2x mph
Combined speed = 3x
time = 4 hours
distance = 600 miles
distance = time * speed
600 = 4*3x
600=12x
/12
x=50
Train I 50 mph
Train II = 50*2 = 100 mph
