Question 633798: Please help me on this world problem: Mike walks 2 miles per hour faster than Steve. Steve walks 12 miles in 4 hours. How long would it take for Mike to walk the same distance? I need the steps please too! Thank you so much!
Answer by solver91311(24713) (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
Distance equals rate times time, so rate is equal to distance divided by time and time is equal to distance divided by rate.
Steve's rate is equal to the distance (12) divided by the time (4). Add 2 to find Mike's rate. Divide 12 by Mike's rate to get Mike's time.
