Question 631034: If u could please help me with find vertex of a baseball is thrown straight upward with an initial speed of 64 ft/sec the number of feet s(t) above the ground after (t) seconds is given by s(t)=-16tsquare+64t what is the maximum height? I got 320 feet but am not sure if that is correct thank you

Hi,
s(t) = -16t^2 + 64t Completing the Square to determinine Vertex of this parabola Opening downward
If y = ax^2 + bx + c ⇒ y = a(x -(-b/2a)^2) - a(-b/2a)^2 + c
= -16(t-2)^2 + 64 V(2,64) Max height of 64ft reached at 2sec
