Walking up a 4-mile trail, a hiker travels 1 mph slower than walking down the same trail at speed 

Note:  D = rt  OR t = D/r

Question states*** total of 5 hours is spent walking up and down the trail

     |Multiplying thru by x(x-1) so as all denominators = 1

      4x + 4(x-1) = 5x(x-1)

      4x + 4x - 4 = 5x^2 - 5x 

                     5x^2 - 13x + 4 = 0
