A plane is headed directly east at 340 mi/hr when the wind is from the south at 45 mi/hr.
What is its velocity (magnitude and direction) with respect to the ground ?
-----------------

v =~ 342.965 mi/hr
----------
East = 090 degs
tan = 45/340
Angle with heading = atan(45/340) =~ 7.54 degs
Ground track = 090 - 7.54 = 82.46 degs
--> 082
Aircraft don't use fractions of degrees.
Also, they don't use mi/hr, they use knots.
