a plane averaged 1000 km/h on the first half of the round trip, but the heavy winds slowed its speed on the return trip to 600 km/h. if the entire trip took six hours, find the distance
---------
It's avg speed for the trip is
2*1000*600/(1000 + 600) = 1200000/1600 = 750 km/hr
750*6 = 4500 km RT
= 2250 km each way
=================
2250/1000 + 2250/600 = 2.25 + 3.75
= 6 hours, so it's correct
---------------
Note: It's avg speed for the trip is 2*1000*600/(1000 + 600) applies only if the distances are equal.
