The distance formula is , d=distance, r=rate, and t=time.
:
The time (t) into the country is: 5
The rate into the country is: r (because we don't know it)
The distance into the country is: 5r
:
The time (t) back is: 4
The rate back is 5 more than into: r+5
The distance back is: 4(r+5)
:
In reality the distance into the country and the distance back are the same, so set the two distances equal to each other.
:
5r=4(r+5)
5r=4r+20
5r-4r=-4r+4r+20
r=20

Her speed into the country is: x=20 m/h
He speed back is: r+5=20+5= 25m/h
