Question 586776: Two friends go to a park to exercise. One starts running at a rate of 8.4 mph on the 23 mile path around the park, and the other starts from the same point, jogging at a rate of 5.5mph in the opposite direction on this path. How many minutes will it be before they meet on this path?
What I have so far is d=rt
Let t=time when they meet
8.4t +5.5t=23
13.9t=23
=1.65
I would appreciate any help on this. Been working on word problems till my head hurts. lol Thanking you in advance.
