Question 580463: how long does it take a car going at an average velocity of 110 km/hr to go 100m in seconds?

Answer by jim_thompson5910(35256)   (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
1 km = 1000 m

1/1000 km = 1 m

1 m = 1/1000 km

100*1 m = 100*(1/1000) km

100 m = 100/1000 km

100 m = 1/10 km
-------------------------------

d = rt

1/10 = 110t

(1/10)/110 = t

(1/10)*(1/110) = t

1/1100 = t

t = 1/1100 hours

Now convert to seconds by multiplying that by 60*60 = 3600:

3600*(1/1100) = 3600/1100 = 36/11 = 3.273 seconds (this is approximate)

So it takes about 3.273 seconds to go 100 meters when you're traveling at 110 km/hr
