time = 1/2 hr ; rate = x mph ; distance = rt = (1/2)x miles

Bike DATA:
time = 1 hr ; rate = 4x mph ; distance = 4x miles

Equation:
walk dist + bike dist = 9 miles
x/2 + 4x = 9
4.5x = 9
x = 2 mph (walking speed)
