Question 569942: Two planes are flying from San Francisco to Chicago, a distance of 1,800 miles. They leave San Francisco at the same time. After 30 minutes, one plane has traveled 25 more miles than the other plane. How much longer will it take the slower plane to get to Chicago than the faster plane if the faster plane is traveling at 500 miles per hour?
Answer by mananth(16946) (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
They leave at the same time
Faster plane speed =500 mph
Faster plane after 1/2 hour has traveled 25 miles more.
so in 1 hourit will travel 50 miles more.
This means the slower plane speed = 450 mph
slower plane time = 1800/450= 4 hours
Faster plane time = 1800/500=3.6 hours=
Now you can answer the question
