Question 550982: A southbound bus left the beach at 9 am. Two hours later a northbound bus left the same station. If the buses traveled at the same rate and were 352 km apart at 2 pm, find the rate of the buses.
Answer by mananth(16946)   (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
Southbound bus speed = x---- 9.00 am
North bound bus speed =x ---11.00am
before north bound bus starts south bound bus travels 2x km

they are going away so add up speeds
x+x = 2x km/h
352-2x is the distance
d/r = t
(352-2x)/2x = 3
352-2x=6x
352=6x+2x
352=8x
x=44 km/h
