rate = 3 1/2 = 7/2 mph
d=r*t
1/2 * 7/2 is the distance in the first part
=7/4 miles
4-7/4 is the balance walked in the second part
9/4 miles in the second half = 45 minutes = 3/4
rate = d/t
rate = (9/4) / (3/4)
=9/4 * 4/3
=3 mph in the second part
