Answer by stanbon(75887) (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
Ed and Dave are going to divide a cash prize of $14,000 in a ratio of 2 to 5. How much will Dave receive?
-----------
Ed:Dave = 2:5 = 2x;5x
EQUATION:
2x+5x=14000
7x=14000
x=2000
So 2x=$4000 (Ed's share)
and 5x= $10000 (Dave's share)

Stan H.
