A driver is initially 270 miles from home, traveling towards home on a straight interstate at 72 mph. write a formula for a function y=D(x)that models the distance between the driver and home after x hours.
any help would be appriciated!!!!

= ( distance to home ) - ( distance traveled )
distance traveled = rate x time
= distance traveled after hrs
( note that this function can't be negative.
That would mean the driver overshot his home )

Distance equals rate times time. You are given a rate of 72 mph and a time of
hours. So the distance traveled in
hour at 72 mph is
miles. But since he is starting at 270 miles from home going toward home the distance from home is 270 miles minus the distance he has traveled in
