At the same time, Jan gets on an elevator on the 51st floor and rides down at a rate of 63 floors per minute.
If they continue traveling at these rates, at which floor will their paths cross?
:
find the time (t) at which this will occur
11 + 57t = 51 - 63t
57t + 63t = 51 - 11
120t = 40
t = min travel time when they meet
:
Find the floor they should meet at, using Tom's elevator
11 + = 30th floor
Check this using Jan's elevator
51 - = 30th floor
