The cars are moving in opposite directions so they are getting farther and farther apart at their combined speed: 50+60 mph = 110 mph.
.
At 110 mph how long does it take to go 330 miles?
.
330 miles/110 mile/hr = 3 hr
.
The question as "at what time" will they be 330 miles apart.
10 a.m + 3 hr = 1 p.m.

Use the distance formula:
where: d = distance traveled, r = rate or speed of travel, and t = the time spent in traveling.
For the first car:
Substitute: so...

For the second car:
Substitute: so...

Now since you want the time at which these cars will be 330 miles apart,
= and

hours.
Add this to the starting time of 10:00am to get 1:00pm
