How long does it take for a stone to fall 2500 meters starting from rest?

This is a Physics AND a Mathematics question. You have to answer the Physics part first, and that question is: What is the function that describes a falling object near the surface of planet ______? (You have to decide where in the universe this stone is falling before you can determine the coefficients of your function.)

Once you have determined the height (as a function of time) function that describes your vertical motion experiment, set the function equal to zero (because the ground is zero height) and solve for time.
