Question 523004: A cyclist complets a journey of 500 m in 22 seconds, part of the way at 10m/s and the remainder at 50 m/s. How far does she travel at each speed give solution.

Answer by mananth(16946)   (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
Time in I leg + time in II leg= 22
let the I leg be x
II leg = 500-x
t=d/r
x/10 + (500-x)/50= 22
LCD = 50
multiply equation by 50
5x+500-x=1100
4x=600
x=150 m
150 m at 10m/s
350 m at 50m/s
