I tried dividing the 8 mpg into 1460 miles and came up with 182.5. Dividing that by 5 gave me 36.5 and multiplying it gave me 912.5.

1460 mi/8 mi/gal = 182.5 gallons

182.5 gal * 5 dollar/gal = $912.50

If you include the units, you know if you've done the appropriate operation.
