Answer by Alan3354(69443) (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
A man traveled a certain distance at the rate of 15 miles an hour and came back at the rate of 10
miles an hour. What is his average speed ?
--------------
You can work this out, or take my word for it.
Avg = 2*15*10/(15+10) = 300/25
Avg = 12 mi/hr
----------------
Notice it's less than the average of the 2 speeds, because more time is spent at the lower speed.
