let x=travel time of car B (hrs)
x+1=travel time of car A (hrs)
Distance=travel time*speed (same for both cars)
x(60)=(x+1)(40)
60x=40x+40
20x=40
x=2 hrs

Difference in time= 01:00 => 1 hours
Car A will have covered 40 miles before Car B starts
catch up distance= 40 miles
catch up speed = 60 -40 mph
catch up speed = 20 mph
Catchup time = catchup distance/catch up speed
catch up time= 40 / 20
catch up time= 2 hours
