Question 499128: The problem is: Car Travel. Two cars leave Denver traveling in
opposite directions. One car travels at a speed of
80 and the other at 96 . In how many
hours will they be 528 km apart?
I know that it is a problem that is going to take two equations to set it up and then use the substitution method to solve it, but I just am not figuring out how to set it up.

Answer by mananth(16946)   (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
Car I -------- 80 km/h
Car II -------- 96 km/h

they are traveling away from each other
so add up speeds
96 + 80 = 176 km/h
Distance = 528 km
time = d/r
time= 528 / 176
Time = 3 h
