What is your average velocity if you drive a
distance of 115 kmat a speed of 48 km/h, then
the same distance at a speed of 67 km/h?
--------------
Avg speed for 2 segments of equal distance is
Avg = 2*48*67/(48 + 67)
= 55.93 km/hr
The distance doesn't matter.
--------------
For this problem:
t = 115/48 + 115/67
t = 115*( (67+48)/48*67) total time
r = d/t = 115*2/t
r = 115*2/115*( (67+48)/48*67) The distance cancels
r = 2*48*67/(67+48) same as above
