Question 495141: Two cars travel toward each other at constant velocities. One is going 12 m/s, and the other 18 m/s. They are 3000m apart when we first see them.
I need to get all the information I can out of this problem. There is no question. I want to know where they with either run into or pass each other? And anything else this information can tell me.

Answer by stanbon(75887)   (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
Two cars travel toward each other at constant velocities. One is going 12 m/s, and the other 18 m/s. They are 3000m apart when we first see them.
-------------
Their closing rate is (10+18)m/s = 28 m/s
----
time = distance/rate
--
time = 3000m/28 = 107.17 seconds
The trains will meet in 107.17 sec
