Answer by stanbon(75887) (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
2 trains 2 miles apart traveling 30 mph on the same track. A fly going 60 mph travels back and forth between the two trains until all three collide. How many times did the fly fly back and forth?
--------
1st; Determine the time needed till the trains meet.
time = distance/rate = 2miles/(30+30)mph = (1/30)hr = 2 min
--------------------------
2nd: Determine the distance the fly can fly in that
time.
distance = time*rate = (1/30)hr*60 mph = 2 miles
