Your average speed on the trip home is 8 miles per hour faster. What is your average speed on the trip home?

56/n=56/(n+8)+10/60(hours)
56/n=56/(n+8)+1/6
56(6)(n+8)=56(6)(n)+n(n+8)
336n+2688=336n+n2+8n
n2+8n-2688=0
(n+56)(n-48)=0
n=48 or -56
Throwing out the negative answer, we get n=48. The trip home is 48+8, or 56 mph..
