x- 1/x = 8/3
LCD = 3x
multiply by LCD
3x^2-3==8x
3x^2-8x-3=0
Find the roots of the equation by quadratic formula
a= 3 ,b= -8 ,c= -3
b^2-4ac= 64 + 36
b^2-4ac= 100
x1=( 8 + 10 )/ 6
x1= 3
x2=( 8 -10 ) / 6
x2= -0.33
x=3 or -0.33
