Question 473975: Suppose a car and a truck leave from joburg. the car leaves at 09:00 and the truck leaves 45 minutes earlier. the car travels at 120km/h and the truck at 90km/h. how far away from Joburg will they meet?
Answer by mananth(16946) (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
Truck 90 kmph
car 120 kmph
Truck 08:15
car 09:00
Difference in time= 00:45minutes --- 0.75 hours
Truck will have covered 67.5 miles before car starts
catch up distance= 67.5 miles
catch up speed = 120 -90 mph
catch up speed = 30 kmph
Catchup time = catchup distance/catch up speed
catch up time= 67.5 / 30
catch up time= 2.25 hours
catch up time= 135 minutes
It will catch up at 11.15 AM
