Question 47327: A car enters a freeway travelling 50 kilometers per hour. One hour later another car enters the freeway by the same ramp, travelling 80 kilometers per hour. Determine the length of time before the second car overtakes the first car.
Answer by 303795(602) (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
The second car travels an extra 30 kilometres per hour so it catches up at that speed. When it entered the freeway the first car had already travelled 50 km so it has to catch up 50 kilometres at 30 kilometres per hour.
The time taken will be 50/30=1 hour and 40 minutes
