Answer by mananth(16946) (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
Get the logic right
time taken from chicago to LA was more by 48 minutes = 4/5 hours
Let the distance between LA and chicago be x
t= d/r
time to chicago = x/640 hours
time to LA = x/512
Time to LA - Time to chicago = 4/5
x/512 - x/630= 4/5
630x-512x= 4*630*512 /5
118x= 4*126*512
x= 4*126*512/118
x= 2186.8 miles
Time to LA = 2186.8/512
4.2 hours
CHECK
Time to chicago = 2186.8 / 640
= 3.42 hours
4.27-3.4= 0.8 hours
