A recent city ordinance decreed that only cars with 4 wheels and trucks with six wheels could be on the bridge at any given time. If there were 148 tires that needed to be replaced to due to damage, how many cars and trucks were involved in the incident? (2 points)

You have to make a whole lot of irrational assumptions in order to solve this problem.

Assumption 1: Only tires on cars and trucks subject to the ordinance were damaged.

Assumption 2: Every car or truck on the bridge at the time of the incident was in compliance with the law. (Yeah, right)

Assumption 3: All tires on all cars and all trucks at the time of the incident were damaged to the point of having to be replaced.

You really have no reason to make any of the above assumptions except that the problem is not solvable without making all of them.
