Question 465707: I am trying to help my son with an algebra problem (he is struggling,especially with word problems, and I am not very good at it either), and he desperately needs to do well on his next few assignments. This word problem has me stumped, because I am not sure which variation of d=rt,r=d/t, or t=d/r that he is supposed to use. I am hoping that someone can help me, help him. Here is the problem: Car A is traveling at 60 mph and Car B is traveling at 65 mph and car A passes a gas station at 2:00 and car B passes the sam gas station at 2:35; at what time will car B catch up to car A?

please clarify this problem...are the cars leaving from the same spot at the same time going in the same direction? If car B has higher speed than it should get to gas station sooner than A. But you said A gets there at 2 and B at 2:35 which doesn't make sense. :)
