Question 461397: a truck enters a highway driving 60 mph. a car enters the highway at the same place 7 minutes later and drives 65 mph in the same direction. from the time the car enters the highway, how long will it take the car to pass the truck?
Answer by rwm(914) (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
The car is gaining on the truck at 5 mph. In those 7 minutes the truck went
60*7/60=7 miles
so we need to find out how long it will take for the car to gain 7 miles
5t=7
t=7/5=1 2/5=1.4 hours
