Question 459803: THe speed of a passenger train is 20 mph faster than the speed of a freight train. The passenger train travels 330 miles in the same time it takes the freight train to travel 230 miles. Find the speed of each train.
Answer by mananth(16946) (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
Freight train x---------230 miles
Passanger train x+20 ---------330 miles
t=d/r
time is same
230/x=330/(x+20)
230(x+20 )-330x=0
-100x+4600=0
-100 x = -4600
x= 46 mph speed of freight train
46+20=66 mph speed of passanger train
