Question 456093: The speed of a stream is 4 miles per hour. If a boat travels 46 miles downstream in the same amount of time it takes to travel 123 miles upstream, what is the speed of the boat in still water?
Answer by richwmiller(17219)   (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
r*t=d
I think you have up and downstream reversed
downstream is with the current
but it can't be.

(r-4)*t=46
(r+4)*t=123
r = 676/77, t = 77/8
r=8.77922, t=9.625
