Question 446002: Lou leaves a rest stop on bicycle traveling 20 miles per hour. his friends leave the same rest stop 15 mins later. how fast will his friends have to drive to reach lou in thirty miles?
I have already made a chart with distance, rate, and time. I filled it out with 30 miles under distance, 20 miles per hour under rate and x on time. I don't know what to do after completing a table that will help me solve.
Answer by jorel1380(3719) (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
15/60x20 mph=5 miles
25 miles/20 mph=1.25 hrs
30 miles/1.25 hrs=24 mph
Lou's friends have 1.25 hours to go 30 miles, which means they have to maintain a 24 mph pace to catch up with him at the 30 mile mark..
