The distance from Seattle, Washington, to Victoria, British Columbia, is about 148 mi by ferry. Answer by rwm(914) (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
r*t=d
r*t=148
r=148/t
r*(t-4)=74
r=74/(t-4)
148/t=74/(t-4)
74t=148*(t-4)
74t=148t-148*4
divide by 74
t=2t-2*4
subtract t
0=t-8
8=t
r=148/8
r=74/4
r=37/2
r=18.5
Answer by jorel1380(3719) (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
148/x=74/x+4
148=74+4x
74=4x
18.5=x
The ferry travels at about 18.5mph..
