You would think at first blush that the speed of the river current would make a difference in this problem. But if you consider that the current will have exactly the same effect on both boats, the actual speed of the current is immaterial.

If one boat is going 10 mph and the other 6 mph in the opposite direction, then the boats are moving apart at 10 + 6 = 16 mph. How long does it take to go 64 miles at 16 mph?
